At the earliest days of an infant bioelectronics industry there were a couple of interesting events that changed the trajectory of the industry. One of the first was the invention of the implantable cardiac pacemaker device, credited to Wilson Greatbatch. Sigmund Cohn Corp. was right there at that time as a supplier of implantable platinum alloys.

Wilson's Story

Another major force was the space race-based explosion in medical device technology in and around NASA and the National Labs. Sigmund Cohn Corp. was a key supplier to these new medical industry devices and sensors.
